THE INTERNET OF SENSES

I was going for an appointment some days back and I walked past Ericsson office in Munich.

I smiled looking at the building because i remembered my mom used to have an Ericsson phone years back that was later passed down to me and after that period, I never really got to see their mobile phones in the market that much. Although, I later came to know that Ericsson is the world leader in communications technologies and services and their core business is equipping mobile networks.

About 40 percent of the world's mobile traffic is handled by Ericsson network technology and one particularly important business area at the moment is the introduction and continuous advancement of the mobile communications standard 5G.

In Germany, Ericsson has been active for more than 60 years.

Anyways, I was still moving gradually whilst admiring the office building when my eyes stumbled across a leaflet on the floor and being an inquisitive person from time, I picked it up and glanced through it and one line caught my attention:

I was intrigued and wanted to know more and i went to read more:

"Introducing the cyber-physical continuum- 6G

6G will make it possible to move freely in the cyber-physical continuum, between the connected physical world of senses, actions and experiences, and its programmable digital representation.

The cyber-physical continuum of 6G includes the metaverse as it is typically understood – a digital environment where avatars interact in a VR/AR world – and goes further, providing a much closer link to reality. In the cyber-physical continuum, it will be possible to project digital objects onto physical objects that are represented digitally, allowing them to seamlessly coexist as merged reality and thereby enhance the real world.

Future networks will be a fundamental component for the functioning of virtually all parts of life, society, and industries, fulfilling the communication needs of humans as well as intelligent machines. As accelerating automatization and digitalization continue to simplify people’s lives, the emerging cyber-physical continuum will continuously improve efficiency and ensure the sustainable use of resources.

Countless sensors will be embedded in the physical world to send data to update the digital representation in real time. Meanwhile, functions programmed in the digital representation will be carried out by actuators in the physical world. The purpose of the 6G network platform is to provide intelligence, ever-present connectivity and full synchronization to this emerging reality."

As I was reading all these, i just kept saying to myself "The world is no longer a 'Global Village' as they say it is anymore, it is now more of a 'Scientific Visual Stage'.

And the whole physical world & digital world description is just giving 'Avatar Korra' vibes to me.

Nevertheless, the human mind is terrific and technology will keep advancing but in all, we pray God to keep us alive in sound health & keep progressing us to fit in.
